“Every person that I dealt with from the company was extremely nice and helpful. The ladies in the office were always kind and helpful, Robert and Ron who provided my estimate and did my window installation were both on time, professional, helpful, and kind, and Ron did an amazing job installing my windows. Their customer service is truly superior. I hope I can utilize their service again for my future home projects and updates.”

Yes. A mortar-set glass block window is effectively a masonry wall. Unlike standard glass panes that can be shattered quietly, or vinyl frames that can be pried open, glass block is thick, heavy, and integrated into the foundation. Breaking through requires significant force, noise, and time—three things intruders avoid.
Yes. Glass Block HQ installs fresh air vents directly into the panel. Hopper vents tip in from the top for privacy. Slider vents slide open horizontally for airflow. Dedicated dryer vent blocks with a 4-inch exhaust hookup are also available for basement laundry rooms.
Properly installed mortar-set windows are highly water-resistant. The mortar creates a tight seal against the masonry foundation. Most leaks people experience are actually condensation or result from a failing silicone installation—not a mortar-set one.
That is condensation, not a leak. It happens when warm, humid basement air hits the cool glass surface. The fix: lower the humidity in your basement with a dehumidifier or improve air circulation. Glass block provides meaningful insulation, but the glass surface can still be cool in winter.
Generally, no. Most building codes require sleeping rooms to have an emergency escape and rescue opening (egress window) that opens large enough for a person to exit and a firefighter to enter. Glass block windows do not open. The solution: use an egress window for the bedroom and glass block for the rest of the basement.
Need egress windows instead?
If your basement window opening requires emergency exit compliance (Ohio building code for bedrooms), glass block won't meet egress requirements. Our sister company Evolve Egress & Exteriors specializes in code-compliant egress window installations across Ohio. Check Ohio egress requirements.
